Bam! It is summer time.
Do you have your crops in? If not, here are a few plants you can actually sow every 2-3 weeks during the summer.
First, what is succession planting? It is pretty simple. gradually planting more seeds throughout the growing season to have a consistent crop to pick!
Lettuce - Sow every 2 weeks.
Check your local discount stores for these! I just found a large pack assortment for $1. Stores pitch their seed packets once their growing season for the year comes to an end, sometimes you can get an "in" with your local hardware store.
Radishes - Sow every other week
Overwhelmed by radishes? There are many recipes out there, I tried dill radish soup once... was impressed!
Carrots - Sow every other week
Remember they like loose sandy soil!
Zucchini - Sow after your first harvest (mid-summer) for a fall crop.
Spinach - Sow every 2 weeks.
Beets - Sow every 3 weeks.
Arugula - Sow every 2 weeks.
Cilantro - Sow every 3 weeks.
Cilantro actually thrives in partial shade because they like cooler temperatures, if you've ever had a problem growing in full sun, well, this is why!
Swiss Chard - Sow every 2 weeks.
Kale - Sow every 3 weeks.
Pak Choi - Sow every 2 weeks.
Basil - Sow every 2 weeks.
Don't stop here, once you get your green thumb polished, you will find there is an even longer list if you have the room and knowledge to do so!
Happy Growing!
